There is a learning curve to social media.

Have you ever posted something on Facebook that you wanted your friends to share, only to discover that they couldn’t? This happens more often than you’d think, but the good news is, there’s a simple solution! In this guide, we’ll explain why some posts aren’t sharable and how you can change the settings for just one post without affecting your entire Facebook account privacy.

Why Aren’t Some Facebook Posts Sharable?

Facebook gives users control over who can see their posts. By default, your posts might only be visible to your friends. This is great for privacy, but it also means that people outside your friend list can’t see or share your content. If a post isn’t set to “Public,” the “Share” button won’t appear for anyone who isn’t in the allowed audience.

This privacy control ensures that you can share personal updates with just your close circle while still having the option to make some posts accessible to a wider audience.

Steps to Make One Post Sharable

Follow these steps to adjust the privacy setting for a specific Facebook post:

  1. Locate the Post You Want to Make Sharable. Go to your profile and find the post that you want others to share.

  2. Click on the Three Dots. In the top-right corner of the post, you’ll see three small dots. Click on them to open the post menu.

  3. Select “Edit Audience”. From the menu, choose “Edit Audience.” This will show you the different privacy options for the post.

  4. Change the Audience to “Public”. Select “Public” from the options. This makes the post visible to anyone on or off Facebook, allowing them to share it.

  5. Save Your Changes. Once you’ve updated the audience setting, click “Done” or “Save.” Now your post is sharable!

Benefits of Adjusting Privacy for Individual Posts

Changing the audience setting for just one post is a great way to keep most of your content private while still allowing certain posts to reach a broader audience. For example, if you’re sharing a fundraiser, an event, or a viral-worthy photo, making that post sharable ensures it gets the visibility it deserves.
